If your child has absolutely no previous piano experience this is the book we will begin with. This book goes over the basics of rhythm counting, familiarization with notes, and playing simple songs with both hands
If your child has a small bit of experience playing piano this is the book we will be starting with. Students starting this book are expected to understand the basics of rhythm counting (time signature, beat value of notes) and must be able to identify notes in the base clef and trebel cleff by the end of this level the student will be able to play more complex beginner songs
If your child is comfortable playing the beginners songs of book 1B this is the book we will start with. By the end of this book your chilld will be more familiar with more complex time signatures, faster tempos, different key signatures and slightly more difficult songs)
If you have 2 or more years of experience playing piano we can decide what book you start with based on an initial assessment. At this time you will be expected to be comfortable sight reading level one songs, identifying songs on the staff, and are familiar with rhythm, sharp/flat notes, dynamics, and other playing techniques. At this time you can also start the classics curriculum
As a new student we will spend the first 2-3 months using Alfred's Piano basics in order to become familiar with basics such as: finger positioning, rhythm, notes in the base and treble clef. Once we move onto Adult Piano adventures you will learn cords, more complex techniques and more complex songs
As a student with some experience you will be familiar with more advanced key signatures, cords, and can confidently identify treble clef and base clef notes
Must have either completed Alfred's basics 2 and Adult Piano Adventures 2 to begin Celebrations 1 The classic curriculum contains more difficult classical songs an emphasis on musical theory
